Cold-calling as a growth strategy: How Graphiq doubled our value and increased our revenue by 140%

After launching our very own platform, Graphiq was supposed to start the real growth. This would take an increase in human resources and capital, and Graphiq had to show for the investors, a structured sales process and a growing client base. The team picked up the phone and through cold-calling, they created progress that resulted in new investments and growth. 

 

Since starting in 2015, the founders of Graphiq have developed a platform for design services who connects over 150 medium to large companies with over 100 handpicked freelance designers. In November 2018, Graphiq finally launched their own platform that was thought to set off growth and international expansion. The investors however, were not entirely convinced that the startup’s sales methodology was scaleable, and the founders had to strategise how they could deliver convincing sales numbers to their investors. 

 

After careful consideration, they agreed to pick up the phone and test a structured process of cold-calling. For two weeks the founders called potential clients, and they could easily make 90 calls in one day. This resulted in 34 booked meetings with qualified leads and the employment of Emil Pete who received responsibility for the process moving forward. After 90 days and hundreds of calls, Pete had booked 91 meetings with potential clients. A proud CEO Jakob Palmers could lay down these numbers to impressed existing and new investors who together invested another 4,3 million NOK in Graphiq. 

 

Palmers looks back at 2019 as a turning point for the company’s future growth. The year behind us has brought new processes, new investments and new employees, who have strengthened Graphiq for 2020. With a doubled value after emission on 60 million NOK and increased revenue of 140% compared to the year before, Graphiq is preparing for international expansion to Denmark, the Netherlands and Sweden in the year to come.
