When you land on a website you get an immediate feel of the company. Let’s say you want to rent a car, you can go to the infamous UK car leasing company LingLingCar or Nabobil here in Norway. But which website actually does it better? We don’t know, we didn’t analyze those two. But we had a breakdown of nine other amazing websites to inspire you to make an amazing website. So here it is, our handpicked websites from different industries to inspire you to create the next LingLingCar (if that’s your thing) or Nabobil with a more Nordic look and feel.

Website breakdown

We have analyzed each website by looking at what we believe is the most important factor of a winning website. And frankly, we borrowed these factors from Karl Blanks and Ben Jesson, the authors of Making Websites Win.

1. A great website is written well, the visitors know what services or products the website offers.

2. A website should make all their benefits clear, the visitor should be persuaded by the benefits. The website should communicate all the factors of value that the customer gets.

3. A website should be user-friendly, visitors don’t struggle to use the website. You rarely think about usability until it’s a problem, so make sure it’s not.

4. Have great offers and the right price, the customers have persuaded it a great deal and within their budget.

5. A great website should be trustworthy. It should show credibility and proof of why they can be trusted, like customer reviews, Trustpilot scores, etc.

6. Remove the risk of buying. This can be done by guarantees to remove the visitor’s fear of commitment. This will reduce the risk for the customer and promise that the customer gets the benefits they want and offset the risk.

7. A reason to buy the product/service or contact the company immediately.

Continue on to learn how nine Norwegian websites answer the most common objections a customer face when landing on a website. We have analyzed the websites through the lens of a potential customer. Let us know if you disagree with our analysis.

Retail

1. Norwegian Rain

Norwegian Rain is a small clothing label, their philosophy is to create functional and waterproof outerwear that does not compromise on stylistic preferences. The rain project is founded based on collabs between local expertise from the creative scene in Bergen. It is based on the concept of dugnad and has evolved into an award-winning designer label.

Their website has a clean and user-friendly design, it is easy for a customer to browse through their products. Their images have very high-quality and bright styles that show off the products very well. Their website is minimalistic, this is one of the web design trends in 2020 which is everlasting. By swapping a heavy paragraph of text with a high-quality image they create a very minimalistic and eye-catching website. Their website lacks some credibility and proof of trust, as we can not see any typical trust signs. They could have taken measures to reduce the risk of making a purchase by clearer stating their return policy.

2. Fall Winter Spring Summer (FWSS)

Fall Winter Spring Summer was established in 2012 and creates clothes you want to be seen in and can believe in. It’s a Scandinavian business with an aesthetic that values practicality and decisive cuts. Instead of focusing on seasonal trends, FWSS collections stay true to their philosophy, four seasons, never out of style.

Their website showcases solid white frames and is steering away from full-bleed images at their product sites. White solid frames are one of the web design trends of 2020. Solid structures give the design more structure and stability. The structured frames around the products create a satisfying sense of order and help to prioritize and separate all the different parts of a page. The website becomes more trustworthy as they communicate their return and exchange policy. This way they reduce the risk of making a purchase.
